Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is virtual ILA legally valid?

Yes. Ontario's Electronic Commerce Act and the Commissioners for Taking Affidavits Act were amended to permit virtual commissioning and remote independent legal advice. Our process is fully compliant with current provincial requirements.

What technology do I need?

Any device with a camera and microphone — desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. We use a secure encrypted video platform; no software installation required. A stable internet connection is recommended.

How quickly can I book?

Emergency slots are available same-day. Standard booking is usually available within 24 hours. If you have an urgent matter, contact us directly and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

Which provinces do you serve?

Currently: Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Nova Scotia. Quebec requires in-person notarization by a notaire (civil law notary) — we cannot serve Quebec notarial needs remotely at this time.

LexChest connects you with independent lawyers and commissioners. We do not practice law. All certificates are issued by independently licensed professionals operating in compliance with their provincial law society and regulatory requirements.
